Educação e elaboração identitária paraense: um olhar sobre a sociedade e a escola na obra de Dalcídio Jurandir

Resumo

Este trabalho constitui resultado parcial de uma pesquisa mais ampla sobre as relações entre a literatura e a sociedade na Amazônia. Entre seus objetivos, a pesquisa se propõe a estabelecer conexões entre a concepção das obras literárias e a organização da sociedade, em especial, destacando os elementos constitutivos de possíveis identidades culturais. Meu intento ao utilizar as obras consagradas da literatura é demonstrar a persistência do processo que denomino de invisibilidade/desqualificação da gente amazônida em análise sociológica de momentos históricos relevantes. Constitui um fragmento de um projeto de pesquisa em andamento intitulado História, Literatura e Diversidade Cultural: intelectuais e a política na elaboração identitária paraense. Neste estudo em particular, meu olhar repousa sobre as obras de Dalcídio Jurandir e tenta recuperar através de personagens de seus romances sua visão da escola e seus métodos no tempo histórico da narrativa, nas primeiras décadas do século XX.

Education and Identity Elaboration in Pará: A View on Society and School in the Work of Dalcídio Jurandir

This work is the partial result of a broader research on the relations between literature and society in Amazonia. Among its objectives, the research is proposed to establish connections between the conception of literary works and the organization of society, highlighting in particular the elements constituting possible cultural identities. My intent in using consecrated works of literature is to demonstrate the persistence of the process I call invisibility/disqualification of the Amazonian people in a sociological analysis of relevant historical moments. It is a fragment of an ongoing research project entitled History, Literature, and Cultural Diversity: Intellectuals and Politics in the Identity Elaboration in Pará.. Particularly, in this study, my view is set on the works of Dalcídio Jurandir and it tries to recover, through characters from his novels, his views on school and its methods at the historical time of the narrative, on the first decades of the 20th century.
