The school culture of manufacturing obedient subjects and accurates in professional education institutions in Rio Grande do Norte

Resumo

Apresenta elementos da cultura escolar de duas instituições de ensino profissional no Rio Grande do Norte: o Colégio de Educandos Artífices, criado em 1858 e a Escola Aprendizes Artífices, criada em 1909. A partir de variadas fontes documentais (legislação, relatório, texto de palestra e carta) e as contribuições teóricas de Le Goff (1996), Magalhães (1996, 2004), Julia (2001) e Foucault (1979, 2004), a construção do texto sinaliza que ambas instituições destinadas a atender meninos pobres e desvalidos, por meio de formação teórica (ensino de primeiras letras, ensino primário e desenho) e prática nas oficinas, imprimiram um conjunto de práticas educativas sistematicamente capazes de controlar espaço, tempo e corpos, e que ainda impuseram modelos culturais subjacentes às relações produtivas da época, que intencionavam a “fabricação” de indivíduos dóceis, ordeiros e obedientes.

Abstract

It presents elements of the school culture of two institutions of professional education in the Rio Grande do Norte: the School of Learning Craftsman, created in 1858 and the School of Apprentices Craftsmen, created in 1909. From various documentary sources (legislation, reports, lecture text and letter) and the theoretical contributions of Le Goff (1996), Magalhães (1996, 2004), Julia (2001) and Foucault (1979, 2004), the construction of the text signals that both institutions aimed at serving poor and disadvantaged children, for means of theoretical training (teaching of first letters, primary education and drawing) and practice in the workshops, printed a set of educational practices systematically able to control space, time and bodies, and who still imposed cultural models underlying the productive relations of the time, which intended the “manufacture” of docile, accurates and obedient subjetcs.
