Application of an Intervention Program for Cognitive and Motor Stimulation of Schoolchildren

Abstract

Several programs are designed to stimulate cognitive and motor skills; however, a previous mapping revealed that no programs currently exist that combine motor activities with digital games to stimulate these skills. Thus, this study describes the application of a program for cognitive and motor stimulation through digital games and motor activities with children in the school environment. The program was applied to 48 children aged between 8 and 10 years. The application lasted 12 weeks, 60 sessions were performed: 24 sessions of motor activities (twice a week) and 36 sessions of digital games (three times a week). After the program was implemented, it was noted that the cognitive stimulation program can be a useful tool for cognitive and motor stimulation of children in the school context; however, it requires a great deal of organization and event mediation during the program.
