Communication and education in the current socio-technical-political scenario: intersectional challenges in working with subalternized collectives

Abstract

O presente estudo reúne pesquisas implicadas no atual cenário sociotécnico, permeado pelos usos de tecnologias digitais, em que se vivencia o capitalismo de plataforma, o colonialismo de dados e o domínio das Big Tech. Este ensaio reflete sobre os desafios interseccionais no trabalho educativo, a partir de uma ótica comunicacional emancipatória com povos subalternizados no Sul Global, evidenciando possibilidades concretas de intervenção didático-pedagógica com potencial de transgressão do paradigma segregador presente na atual matriz educacional. Tais investigações se inserem no campo das epistemologias contra-hegemônicas e convergem em fazeres/pensares insurgentes, em uma perspectiva contracolonial e hacker. Seus resultados indicam, apesar de sua atuação em microescala, grande potencial de transgressão com impactos positivos no fortalecimento dos coletivos envolvidos.

Abstract

The present study gathers engaged research in the current sociotechnical scenario, which is shaped by the use of digital technologies, platform capitalism, data colonialism, and the dominance of Big Tech. This paper reflects on the intersectional challenges of educational practice through an emancipatory communicative lens, engaging with subalternized communities in the Global South. It highlights concrete possibilities for didactic-pedagogical interventions that hold the potential to transgress the segregating paradigm embedded in the prevailing educational matrix. These investigations are situated within the field of counter-hegemonic epistemologies and converge around insurgent ways of thinking and doing, grounded in a counter-colonial and hacker perspective. The findings indicate that, despite operating on a microscale, they hold significant transgressive potential, with positive impacts on the strengthening of the collectives involved.
